BOUND ANGLE/BUTTERFLY POSE “Baddha Konasana” A and B 
Lower Body Benefits: Opens hips, stretches inner thighs/groins/knees. Soothes menstrual discomfort and sciatica. 
How To: From a seated position, bring the soles of the feet together. Thumbs come to the arches of the feet opening them up like a book. Inhale lengthen through the spine- drawing the navel in toward the spine. Exhale, fold from the hip joint keeping the spine long and the neck in line with the spine. Use elbows to assist in opening up the hips. Gaze is toward the toes. No rounding in the back for this A variation. 
Inhale, come back up. Exhale, this time (B variation) round the back- keeping your positioning with the low body, but now finding a broadening in the shoulders and a lengthening in the back of the neck. Crown of the head comes in toward the feet. Chin tucks in toward the chest. 
You may hold each variation for 2-3 breaths. If you would like to find more fluid movement, hold for less in between, but follow breath counts listed to keep with your breath.

POSE: PIGEON POSE 
LOWER BODY BENEFITS: 
Stretches hamstrings and quadriceps. Increases range of motion in hips, lengthens hip flexors. 
How To: 🔆 Be sure to prepare your hips with other hip opening stretches before practicing pigeon 🔆 ▫️From a downward dog position, and on an inhale, raise the right leg for 3-legged dog. ▫️On an exhale, bring the right knee forward between the legs toward the right wrist. ▫️Right heel comes toward the left hip. ▫️Walking the hands back on an inhale, lengthen back with the left leg. ▫️Make sure hips are parallel to front of mat/room. Exhale, begin walking the hands forward- maybe coming onto the forearms or walking the hands all the way forward with the arms extended fully. ▫️Forehead rests on either a block or your mat/the floor. (To take deeper, flex right foot to protect right knee joint and start walking the right foot forward in the direction of the left wrist- ultimately trying to make the right shin parallel with the mat/front of the room). ▫️Send breath into tight areas of the body. ▫️Hold for 5-10 breaths to achieve softening in the hips and proper lengthening of the hip flexors.
